V
intage original 11x14 in. U.S.
title lobby card
from the silent film adventure/romance,
THE LOVE FLOWER
, released in 1920 by United Artists and
directed by D
.W. Griffith
. The artwork depicts a beautiful original illustration of two naked lovers caught in a whirlpool as sharks approach and was designed by artist C. A. and produced by the Gablik Studios.
This title lobby card card is unrestored in near-fine condition with a pinhole in the upper left image, a tiny hole just above the shark in the upper right image, a 1 in. diagonal tear in the upper white left border, a 4 ½ in. diagonal pencil line through credits, diagonal creases in corners, nicks, small stain just below the R in Flower, a 5 ½ in. diagonal water stain in upper image, the letter G written in ink with smear marks in bottom white middle border extending into illustration, and C-1920 written in lead pencil in the bottom white middle border (see image). A previous owner had traced portions of the image with a pencil, which created a light indentation of the figure of the woman (see photo of verso).
The Love Flower
; United Artists, 1920; d: D.
